Advantage+ Placements

In one lineLet Meta show the ad wherever it works.

When you build an ad set, one of the choices in front of you is where the ad actually runs, and Advantage+ placements is you handing that choice to Meta instead of ticking the boxes yourself.

With Advantage+ placements turned on, Meta is free to show your ad across every surface it owns and a few it does not, which means the Facebook and Instagram feeds, Stories, Reels, Messenger, and the Audience Network of outside apps and websites. You used to see this same setting called Automatic Placements, so if that name is stuck in your head, it is the same thing wearing a newer label. The alternative is manual placements, where you sit there and pick the exact spots you want, one by one.

This matters because every extra placement you allow is another set of auctions Meta can go and win on your behalf, and more auctions to compete in usually means more chances to land a result at a price you are happy with. That is the whole reason Meta pushes you toward it: give the system the widest possible field and it tends to find you cheaper results than you would by hand-picking the two or three placements you assume are best.

The catch is that your creative has to hold up in every shape and format you just opened the door to. A square feed image stretched into a full-screen vertical Reel looks wrong, and a poor fit quietly burns through those placements without you noticing, while some Audience Network slots can soak up spend on low-quality attention. So supply the right aspect ratios for each surface, and open the placement breakdown in your reporting to see where the money and the results are genuinely landing, because blocking a specific placement after the fact is harder than it once was.

Let Meta pick the rooms, but make sure your ad is dressed for every one of them.
