The Signup Flow

The signup flow is the whole path from installing your app to becoming a registered, activated user who has actually done something useful.

You paid good money to get someone to tap install. Then they open the app and hit a wall: create an account, confirm your email, set a password, verify your phone with a code that takes ninety seconds to arrive, and approve four permission prompts before you have seen a single thing worth staying for. Every one of those steps is a door, and at every door some people turn around and leave. That leak is invisible in your ad dashboard, which only tells you the install happened, so you can be paying for installs and quietly losing most of them before activation.

The fixes are about removing friction, not adding polish. Social login and one-tap sign-in let people in without typing a password. Guest or anonymous mode lets them try the thing first and register later, once they care. And a deferred deep link carries the promise from your ad through the install and drops the new user on the exact screen the ad showed them, instead of a generic home page where they have to go hunting for the reason they came.

Here is the discipline that actually matters. Every field and every tap you force before the user reaches value costs you activations, so you delay asking for anything, email, phone, permissions, until after the person has felt why the app is worth their time.

Ask for the least you can, as late as you can, and more people will still be there to ask.
