Takeovers are premium, fixed-price placements that put your ad in the highest-traffic spots on X: the top of the timeline and alongside the trends.

With a Timeline Takeover, your ad is the first thing people see in their timeline for a full day. With a Trend Takeover, you own the placement beside trending topics on the Explore tab. You are not bidding in the auction here; you are buying the whole slot for a set period, usually for a launch or a moment.

Say you book a Timeline Takeover for a product launch day. Everyone who opens X that day sees your ad first, so reach spikes hard and fast. You are paying a flat premium for that guaranteed position, which means the creative and the timing have to be worth the day, because you get the one shot.

A Takeover buys position, not a good idea. People spend the premium on the slot and then run mediocre creative in it, turning the biggest audience of the day into the biggest audience to ignore them.

The best seat in the house still needs something worth watching.
