Server-Side GTM is a version of Google Tag Manager that runs on a server you control instead of inside the visitor's browser.
Normal Tag Manager loads in the page and fires every tag from the browser, which is exactly what ad blockers and privacy settings target. Server-Side GTM moves that work to a container running on your own server. The browser sends one clean signal to your container, and the container decides what to forward to Meta, Google, TikTok, and the rest.
This gives you one place to manage all your server-side sends, rather than wiring up each platform's API separately. When a purchase happens for a few hundred rupees, your container receives it once and fans it out to every platform you tell it to, each in that platform's own format.
It is an official Google product, but it is not free to run. You have to host the container somewhere and pay for that hosting, and it adds a layer of setup and monitoring most small sites underestimate. The power comes with a bill and a learning curve.
One container to catch the event, and hand it to everyone who needs it.
