Conversion Event

In one lineOne tracked action sent to a platform.

A conversion event is one tracked action packaged up and sent to a platform, such as a single Purchase or Lead.

Where a conversion is the idea of a valuable action, a conversion event is the actual message that reports it. It carries a name like Purchase, a value, a currency, a timestamp, and identity data so the platform can match it to a person and an ad.

When a buyer finishes checkout, your setup builds a Purchase event that says what happened, when, and for how much, then sends it to Meta or Google. Standard event names matter here; a platform understands Purchase and AddToCart out of the box, but a made-up name it has never seen it cannot optimize toward.

An event only helps if it fires once, correctly, at the right moment. Fire it on page load instead of on real checkout and you will report sales that never closed, then wonder why the platform chases the wrong audience.

One real action, one clean event, no earlier.
