Ad review is the policy check TikTok runs on your ad, against its advertising rules, before it is allowed to run.
Every ad you submit goes through review first. TikTok looks at your video, your text, your landing page, and your targeting to make sure they follow its advertising policies. Only after it passes does the ad start delivering. TikTok says most reviews finish within 24 hours, though it can be faster or slower.
So if you upload a campaign at 9pm expecting it live overnight, plan for the ad to sit in review first. A common snag: your video is fine but the landing page it points to has a broken link or a claim TikTok does not allow, and the whole ad gets rejected until you fix the page.
Passing review is not the same as being safe forever. TikTok re-checks ads even after approval, so an ad that ran fine for a week can get pulled later, and if you edit a live ad it usually re-enters review and stops delivering until it clears again.
Approved today does not mean untouchable tomorrow.
