A single image or video ad is the base full-screen vertical ad that plays between friends' Stories and in content feeds.
It is one image or a short video that fills the phone screen top to bottom, with an attachment the viewer can swipe up on to visit a site, install an app, or watch a longer video. This is the format most of your spend runs through, and it is the building block the other formats extend.
Say you want to promote a weekend sale. You upload a five second vertical video with a clear offer and attach your product page. It plays full-screen between Stories, and a viewer who is interested swipes up straight to the page, no extra steps.
Vertical, sound-on, and short is not optional here. A landscape clip lifted from another channel gets pillar-boxed and ignored in the first second. Snapchat is a nine by sixteen, sound-first surface, and creative built for anywhere else underperforms creative built for it.
Build it vertical, build it for sound, and make the first second count.
