Standard Events are the predefined, named conversion events the Quora pixel reports, layered on top of the base pixel.
You install the base pixel across your site, then add a standard event label on the page where the action happens, choosing from a fixed list such as Purchase, Generate Lead, Complete Registration, Add to Cart, Initiate Checkout and Search. When no named label fits, you use Generic. The label is what turns a page load into a counted conversion.
You fire the Purchase event on your order confirmation page, and Quora records a conversion each time that page loads for a matched user.
The base pixel alone records nothing as a conversion. The base pixel is only the infrastructure; the labeled standard event is what gets counted, and Generic is not part of the base pixel. People paste the base snippet sitewide, skip the event labels, and then cannot understand why the conversion column stays empty.
Base pixel watches. The event counts.
