Audience targeting reaches specific people, your site visitors, your uploaded contacts, or lookalikes of them, instead of the content on the page.
You build the audience once at the account level, then apply it to ad sets. Website Traffic audiences use the Quora Pixel to catch people who visited your pages. List Match audiences come from a CSV of emails you upload. Lookalike audiences ask Quora to find users who resemble either of those seeds.
You upload a list of 2,000 current customers as a List Match audience, then build a Lookalike from it. The lookalike tells Quora to go find users who resemble your buyers, and you run cold prospecting against people you never had contact details for.
Small seeds make weak lookalikes. Quora needs a real seed to model from, roughly 500 contacts for a List Match lookalike and a few thousand pixel visitors for a website one, and audiences take up to a day to build before they run. Feed it a thin or messy list and the lookalike is just noise.
The model is only as good as the seed you feed it.
