Conversion Optimization

Conversion optimization is a campaign setting that tells Pinterest to bid toward a specific tracked event, like checkout, rather than clicks.

You run a conversion objective, name the event you care about, and Pinterest uses your tag and Conversions API signal to find people likely to complete that action. The auction stops chasing cheap clicks and starts chasing the outcome you defined. It needs a steady flow of the chosen event to learn, which is why the tracking has to be right before you switch it on.

A store sets its objective to optimize for checkout, and Pinterest shifts delivery toward users who tend to buy instead of users who merely click.

Optimization cannot learn from an event you barely fire. Point a conversion campaign at checkout when the account sees a handful of purchases a week and it never exits the learning phase. People pick the deepest event by instinct; sometimes you optimize toward add-to-cart first because that is the signal you actually have volume on.

You can only optimize toward an event you measure enough of.
