Campaign Objective

In one lineThe goal that unlocks formats and bidding.
Campaign Objective illustration

The campaign objective is the goal you pick at setup that determines which ad formats, bidding options, and optimization LinkedIn makes available.

You choose one of three stages, Awareness, Consideration, or Conversions, and each narrows to specific outcomes underneath. The choice is not cosmetic: it decides what the auction optimizes toward and what you get billed on, so it shapes both delivery and cost.

Pick Website Visits under Consideration and LinkedIn optimizes for clicks and bills you per click. Pick Website Conversions under Conversions and it optimizes toward people who convert, using your tracking, and the whole delivery pattern changes even with the same audience and creative.

The objective is set at campaign creation and cannot be changed after. If you picked the wrong one, you rebuild the campaign. People pick an upper-funnel goal, then judge it on leads it was never optimizing for. Match the objective to the outcome you will actually report on.

Choose the objective for the result you are graded on.
