Bid strategy is how you tell LinkedIn to spend your budget: maximum delivery, cost cap, or manual bidding.

Maximum delivery hands full control to LinkedIn to get the most results for the budget with no bid you set. Cost cap lets you name a target cost per result and LinkedIn tries to stay near it while spending the budget. Manual bidding sets your bid per click or impression yourself, so you control the ceiling but own the tuning.

A team with a hard target on cost per lead sets cost cap at that number, so LinkedIn keeps average cost near the target instead of chasing volume at any price the way maximum delivery would.

Maximum delivery spends the whole budget by design. It optimizes for results within the budget, not for efficiency, so on a small or unproven audience it can burn the day's spend fast at a cost per result you would never have accepted with a cap.

The strategy decides whether the budget protects you or just empties.
