Attribute Targeting

In one lineTargeting by title, function, seniority, skills.

Attribute targeting builds an audience from LinkedIn profile data: job title, function, seniority, skills, industry, and company size.

This is the input that makes LinkedIn distinct, because members maintain these fields themselves for professional reasons. You stack attributes to describe a buyer, layering function and seniority and industry, and LinkedIn assembles the members who match. You can narrow with AND conditions or widen with OR.

To reach finance decision-makers at large manufacturers, you combine the finance job function, a director-and-above seniority, the manufacturing industry, and a company-size band above a threshold. The result is a defined professional segment, not a behavioral guess.

Stacking attributes shrinks reach fast and raises cost. Every layer you add cuts the audience and pushes the price per result up, and some fields, like job title, are self-reported and go stale. Target the two or three attributes that actually define the buyer and stop; over-narrowing is the common way to make an expensive channel more expensive.

Precision has a price. Buy only the layers you need.
